Ubuntu 10.04
Have you ever heard about Ubuntu ??
It is an easy ,cute and...... free operating system !!!
I have heard about Ubuntu since about a year and since then I wanted to try it,but I didn't really install it till 2 days ago :D
Although I tried it for the first time nearly two months ago, and I was trying all this time to install it !!!
Obviously I faced a problem .... a strange one actually ,so what was my problem and how did I solve it???
You can check out Ubuntu website ,It illustrate how to download and install Ubuntu in detail.
http://www.ubuntu.com/
After I reboot my laptop from the USB and that after changing my Boot settings
(Press F2 once your PC start up)
After trying Ubuntu and love it I wanted to install it ,so I double clicked the installation icon and selected the language and ... etc.
and after that the problem was in choosing the installation mode
I wanted to install it side by side with my vista , the Ubuntu website and my friends and whoever install Ubuntu find this choice except for me !!
I am not an expert in disk formatting and I don't know what to do ,so I asked every one I know - and know enough about computers - about this problem
and the answer was always like this ?????????????????
I tried to install it again and didn't find my lost choice - I didn't do any thing yet - and this time I checked the colors above that represents the hard disk partitions and there was the surprise .........
I thought I only have 2 partitions C and D , but I found 4 ??
The remaining partitions were Recovery and....... Embedded XP !!!!
Now I know the problem, I already have 2 operating systems on my laptop vista and XP ,so I can not install Ubuntu side by side by side them.
I didn't know that before as when I bought my laptop , the operating system was already installed.
Now the solution is clear ,all I have to do is to remove the XP partition and install Ubuntu normally side by side my vista.
And that was easy - it takes me a long time to know how - all I have to do is:
1 - Boot from the USB . (try Ubuntu)
2 - From System -> Administration -> Gparted
this program enabled me to delete the XP partition. After that I double clicked the installation Icon and follow the instructions and .................. Hello Ubuntu.
